Timmy

Timmy is a 5 month old Working Cocker Spaniel who is looking for a new home because his elderly owner felt she was unable to cope with a lively young spaniel. Peppy

Peppy is a very gentle 3 year old black and white Collie cross male. If he woofs at you, it is only because he doesn’t understand why he is being looked at by you. He is a very quiet and timid creature and as harmless as a shadow.

rspcaderby_peppy.JPG

He arrived at Derby RSPCA Centre with another dog named Inra (also featured on DogsBlog.com), who is believed to be his brother. They were taken away from a household where there were already too many pets and where they were not being cared for properly.

Peppy is a sweet and friendly dog at heart, but he is rather cautious at the moment because before coming to Derby RSPCA Centre it appears he had seen nothing of the world beyond the house where he used to live.

He had probably never even been taken for a walk and had never had the chance to socialise with other people and dogs, only with his brother Inra, so every new day is a voyage of discovery for him and every walk a major event to be experienced with a mixture of enjoyment and slight apprehension. He is learning swiftly and happily.

Peppy needs a gentle, loving, caring, patient new owner who can give him all the reassurance and understanding he needs to turn him into the happy and confident dog he should be. He might be suitable to live in a household where any children were aged 10+, but a rowdy home would not be the best place for Peppy to find his feet. Everyone in his new home should be sympathetic and firmly on his side.

Peppy is a lovely dog who needs to be surrounded by kind, calm, sensible people who will cherish and nurture him. He could be rehomed with his brother Inra, who is understandably similarly jittery at present, or he could be rehomed on his own. Both dogs really do deserve to have a new start in life with people who love them and who want to give them the very happiest of times.

Inra

Inra is a very timid 3 year old black and grey Collie cross male. If he woofs at you, it is only because he doesn’t understand why he is being looked at by you. Poor Inra has suffered from serious neglect and has understandably become rather wary of human beings as a result.

rspcaderby_incra.JPG

He arrived at Derby RSPCA Centre with another dog named Peppy, who is believed to be his brother. They were taken away from a household where there were already too many pets and where they were not being cared for at all.

Inra is a sweet and friendly dog at heart, but he is rather cautious and nervous at the moment because before coming to Derby RSPCA Centre it appears he had seen nothing of the world beyond the building where he used to live.

He had probably never even been taken for a walk and had never had the chance to socialise with people and dogs, only with his brother Peppy, so every new day is a voyage of discovery for him and every walk a major event to be experienced with a mixture of astonishment and slight apprehension.

Inra needs a gentle, loving, caring, patient new owner who can give him all the reassurance and understanding he needs to turn him into the happy and confident dog he should be. He might be suitable to live in a quiet, peaceful household where any children were aged 15+, but a rowdy home would not be a good place for Inra to find his feet. Everyone in his new home should be sympathetic and firmly on his side.

Inra is a lovely dog who needs to be surrounded by kind, calm, sensible people who will cherish and nurture him. He really does deserve to have a new start in life with people who love him and who want to give him the very happiest of times.

Could you offer this sweet dog the very special home he needs, with boundless love, compassion and understanding?

Ben

Ben is a sweet-natured and lovable 9-10 year old male cross-breed who came to the RSPCA in early 2007 after his elderly owner died. He seems to have led a very quiet, sheltered life alone with his owner and had apparently never seen road traffic before being brought into town to the RSPCA, though he is now used to it and is very happy to go out for long walks.

[youtube:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wm79nzRD3EE&autoplay=0 400 400]

Ben is friendly with other dogs and with people too and is one of the most likable dogs to arrive at the RSPCA centre in the past year. He is a good-hearted dog with a gentle, mild-mannered, mellow personality. He is house-trained, very affectionate and his tail hardly ever stops wagging.

rspcaderby_ben.JPG

An attempt to rehome Ben in a household with lively children proved unsuccessful, because he has never lived in a home where people rush around being noisy and he finds that kind of behaviour upsetting and frightening. Ben is a quiet dog who needs a quiet, calm home and mature owners without any children.

He appears to be just a little bit hard of hearing and his eyesight isn’t what it once was, so a new owner will need to make allowances for him and understand that he may occasionally be a little confused by what’s going on around him and react accordingly. In all other respects he is a comparatively youthful dog who will need and enjoy regular walks and exercise.

Ben is a precious and extremely lovable dog who deserves to be cherished and treasured for the rest of his life. He needs owners who are firm, fair, consistent and dog-knowledgable (as well as patient and loving) and who will make it clear to him where he fits into the hierarchy of their household.

Blu

Blu is a rather magnificent young black-and-tan male German Shepherd male aged 10 months old. He arrived at Derby RSPCA Centre with his brother Hugo after their owners decided that they had too many dogs.

rspcaderby_blu.JPG

Blu is a lively, friendly lad who really enjoys being with people, especially if they’re stroking him, grooming him, playing with him or giving him their attention in some other way.

He seems to get along well with female dogs and could possibly be rehomed alongside one, depending on her personality. He appears to ignore cats at present, though this might well change if he found himself living under other circumstances. He would certainly chase rabbits and similar small furry creatures.

Blu would be suitable to live in a household where any children were aged over 10 years. We already knows a couple of commands and could easily learn very many more, being a highly intelligent German Shepherd Dog with a big capacity for learning. In fact he would probably enjoy and benefit from more training, since he has huge potential which his last owners seem to have done little about.

Blu would suit an active home where he would get lots of fresh air, walks, fun, exercise and training and where he would be allowed to join in everything as a family member.

He is a friendly, handsome and enthusiastic lad who deserves to have a long and happy life with owners who understand the needs of a German Shepherd and who are only too willing to give him everything that a lively, happy, healthy dog requires.

Lola

Lola is a 1 year old white and black Staffordshire Bull Terrier female. She arrived at Derby RSPCA Centre when her last owners decided they no longer had room in their life for a dog. She is very, very friendly indeed.

rspcaderby_lola.JPG

Lola loves everyone on the planet, even if they’re total strangers and especially if they like playing with dog toys as much as she does. She also loves being made a big fuss of and is immensely fond of children. She has lived with children previously and would be suitable to live in a household where any children were aged over 7 years.

Lola appears to be non-aggressive towards other dogs and has lived with another female dog in the past. She might be able to live alongside another dog in her new home, but it would depend largely on the other dog’s personality and Lola would definitely need to meet the dog first.

She does not seem to be aggressive towards cats either, but being a Terrier there is always a chance that she might decide to chase them. She is house-trained and knows a number of basic commands. Lola is a very lovable and huggable dog who would suit a caring household where she would be walked sufficiently, played with as much as she needs to be and allowed to join in with everything that goes on.

She has a rather mysterious hereditary health problem which affects how far she can walk, so short walks are all she is capable of, but regular short walks plus plenty of play and attention at home should help her to compensate for the lack of long walks.

Lola is very much a family-member rather than just a pet and will definitely bring a lot of love and happiness into her new home with her.
