Rafter - 2 year old male Cross-Breed

Rafter is a 2 year old male cross-breed. He has been at Many Tears a long time waiting for a home. He is fine with female dogs but does not like other males. He needs an experience dog owner who is willing to work with him. He loves people although can be a bit over enthusiastic when he first meets you! This is because he absolutely hates life in the kennels and when you enter he is just desperate for you to take him out. He really needs to find his forever home.

Bertie - 2 year old male Labrador

Bertie is a golden Labrador male aged about 2 years old. He is a big friendly boy, very good with other dogs, but a bit boisterous and in need of some basic training. He will need a secure garden as he has been used to straying and would be best suited to a family with older children. He will need someone who will give him the exercise and mental stimulation he needs and who is prepared to work on his training.

Sultan

Sultan is an 18 month old male German Shepherd cross male. He absolutely loves being with people and is never happier than when he’s able to interact freely with human beings. He can seem a tiny bit cautious at first while he’s sizing up a newcomer, but once he’s decided to make friends there’s no looking back. He is a very, very sociable dog indeed.

rspcaderby_sulton.JPG

He especially enjoys playing, being stroked and being hugged by people he knows to be his friends. He knows various basic commands and should easily be able to learn more, being a very intelligent dog indeed. He will need plenty of walks and exercise to keep him fit, happy and content.

Sultan would be suitable for a household where any children were aged over 15 years. Probably he would be best suited to being the only pet in the house, since he does not appear to be very comfortable around other dogs and would be certain to chase after cats. There is an outside possibility that he might be able to get along with another dog, though it would depend largely on the other dog’s personality (and the two dogs would certainly need to meet one another here first to assess their compatibility).

Sultan is a very good-natured, affectionate and lovable dog who thrives on being with the people he loves. If you can offer this wonderfully sociable and intelligent dog the life of friendliness, exercise, affection and interactive fun he needs, he will prove to be a superb addition to the household and a loving companion to be proud of.

Dodge - 2 year old male American Bulldog

Dodge (ref 9d) is a 2 year old brindle and white male non-pedigree American Bulldog. He is an extremely sweet-natured, playful and chummy character who arrived at Derby RSPCA Centre after his owners decided they no longer wanted a dog and jettisoned him.

He is a very friendly boy who loves being stroked, adores playing with toys, enjoys being groomed and thrives on being with friendly people. Most of all, he likes to be loved and to show you how much he loves you in return. American Bulldogs are full of love, gentleness and good humour - and Dodge is a perfect example of that sweet and loving personality.

[youtube:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jclg84q9uK8&autoplay=0 400 400]

Dodge would be perfect for an active household with experience of dogs, where he could be provided with all the play and exercise he needs. He is a very jolly dog who loves to romp around, muck about and let off steam. He would be best suited for a home where any children were aged over 10 years.

He seems to be friendly towards female dogs and might possibly be able to get along with a male dog (depending on the other dog’s personality, obviously). Like most dogs, however, he would be inclined to chase after cats and rabbits etc. He knows at least two commands and should easily be able to learn more.

rspcaderby_dodge.JPG

Dodge is a sweet, friendly, cheerful, enthusiastic dog who just needs someone to love him, play with him, take him for walks and make him feel wanted once again. He has a big heart full of love for everyone and he will make an unsinkably jolly and loving new family member and friend.

Is there a place in your life for this lovable, good-hearted dog who has the personality of a happy and loving young child?

Max - 7 year old male German Shepherd

Max is a very splendid thick-coated black-and-tan German Shepherd male aged 7 years old. He was brought in to Derby RSPCA Centre after his last owners decided they no longer wished to own a dog and agreed to let an RSPCA Inspector to take him away.

He is an extremely friendly boy who loves to play - especially ball games - and is a very lively, cheerful and bouncy dog. Being a German Shepherd Dog, Max is very intelligent and highly trainable. He already knows at least 5 commands and could easily learn more. He would probably enjoy being taught more commands and would respond to extra training with concentration and enthusiasm. He is very quick on the uptake.

[youtube:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7EWWhDSFreY&autoplay=0 400 400]

He seems to get along well with other dogs, so he might be able to be adopted by someone who already has another dog, depending on that dog’s personality. Like most dogs, he barks at cats and would probably chase them. He would also be likely to chase rabbits and similarly small furry animals.

rspcaderby_max.JPG

Max would be suitable for an active household where any children were aged over 10 years (or over 7 years if the children were already used to living alongside a big hefty dog).

He will need plenty of good long walks and lots of exercise. He will also need regular careful grooming, to stop his coat from becoming matted and dirty.

Max is a dog to be proud of - and if you can provide him with the active, healthy lifestyle he needs (as well as plenty of love, kindness, attention and ball games), he will make a magnificent companion and a lifelong best friend.
